Gothamite.org, a Services Directory for New York City, and an alternative to Craigslist and other similar websites, opened its doors this 23 of July, 2026!
In these difficult days for Gotham, we here at Gothamite.org are helping the citizens of Gotham to connect with each other, to utilize the talents of their fellow citizens appropriately, and to help the many self-employed service providers to survive and provide better lives for themselves and their families.
Gothamite distinguishes itself from Craigslist and others similar websites by being very easy to use, making it easy to get an advertisement posting up (just an email verification is required), being inexpensive to advertise at only $5 a month (except for the Health & Wellness category which is $10/month), not closing customer accounts down for no obvious reason out of the blue, and actually getting customer postings up (which we do not want to name any names, but some other websites fail to do).
Gothamite also offers a few categories that Craigslist does not offer, namely “Massage” which Craigs used to group in with “Erotic Services,” a category they discontinued in 2009, stemming from concerns about human trafficking and prostitution. Our category name is “Massage” and not “Erotic Services,” but let us just state for the record: “Any illegal activity is strictly prohibited on Gothamite and will get one’s account terminated!” We are simply trying to serve legitimate massage therapists and their clients with the “Massage” category. Massage Therapists need to make a living too!
Additionally, Gothamite is offering a “Divination” category, for astrology, tarot readings, I Ching readings, and such. Hopefully, such divinations will lead to better choices in the lives of the Gothamites, and help to support the many practitioners of such arts, which are of very ancient origin.
Besides accepting regular credit cards, which are securely processed by Square Inc., Gothamite does also accept Apple Pay and Gpay.
